Karbuni is connected with a road to the major connections that lead to all parts of the island of Korcula. Should you decide to explore more, here are some of the most popular places, landmarks and things to do while staying on Korcula.
Blato
Apartments Silva Karbuni are about 10 minutes drive from one of the island’s centers – Blato. Do not miss to check out its sword dance Kumpanjija, performed at one of the town squares. The tradition of participating in Kumpanjija was for a long time passed down from father to son in the Bačić family, so we recommend catching a performance during summertime. While visiting Blato, one of the most popular spots is a long linden tree alley, great for an afternoon or morning walk. There is a popular wine tasting corner on the way, great for tasting local products.
Vela Luka
Vela Luka is a harbour on the western part of the island, with a long seaside promenade ideal for evening walks and with various sightseeing spots. We suggest to start by checking out the beaches on the island of Proizd, and, when coming back to Vela Luka, to visit the internationally-renowned archaeological site Vela spila, as well as the abandoned fortress Hum during daytime. As the sun starts to set, there are many restaurants with tasty local dishes to choose from. Paired with a bottle of local wine, you are ready to check out some of the summer events and maybe catch a klapa performance – a cappella singers famous in this area.
Korčula town & around the island
If you head to the East following the main routes through the island, through the vineyards of Smokvica and Čara you will reach the town of Korcula. One of the most popular locations on the island of Korcula and in the Adriatic Sea, this historical place is full of sightseeing spots. Explore the islets around as well medieval city walls and various restaurants serving tasty local dishes, gaining more and more attraction on the gastro scene with each year. Catch a performance of sword dance Moreska and try some of the local wines at the local wine shops – these are just some of the things for things to do in Korcula.
Wandering around the area of the town of Korcula, there are some other great locations to check out. To the south-east of Korcula lies Lumbarda, a place with the only sandy beach on the island and popular fisherman’s evening events during Summer. To the north-west you will reach Kneze and Racisce, picturesque seaside places. There is a pebble beach in Kneze center, but if you decide to go further and pass Racisce, there are a couple of more remote pebble beaches worth a trip, just like many other pebble beaches on the island of Korcula!
